Program objectives and description

To provide information to assess long-term trends in water quality. Information from this network is also used for a variety of other purposes: e.g., development of water quality guidelines, environmental assessments, reporting on environmental health, and the assessment of water quality compliance with existing guidelines and objectives. Most stations are located on drainages of interest to both federal and territorial governments.
