Yukon Energy, Mines, and Resources - Compliance Monitoring & Inspections
To monitor water quality under the Fish Habitat Management System for Yukon Placer Mining. Water quality and quantity data are collected from 13 of the 18 Yukon watersheds that are subject to historic or ongoing placer mining activity. As many as 28 automated sampling stations are deployed seasonally (mid-May through September), with an additional 260 sites monitored on a sporadic basis. The network also includes a meteorological monitoring component to assist in the interpretation of the collected water quality data, with 16 portable weather stations deployed annually over the sampling period in the major watersheds.
