To collect information on long-term trends in groundwater in areas where there is infrastructure (e.g., country residential sub-divisions). This long-term groundwater monitoring program was initiated in 2001 as part of a multi-disciplinary research program in the Wolf Creek drainage and later expanded to other locations. The network was expanded starting in 2014 under the action items of the water strategy and renamed the Yukon Observation Well Network (YOWN).
