Program objectives and description

To collect meteorological information. The network provides accurate meteorological data from key stations to both government agencies and the public. Raw data and specialized analytical products (e.g., climate normals and rainfall intensity-duration curves) are made available electronically for a variety of purposes, such as weather forecasts, planning and design for development projects, climate change research, and travel. Many stations are located at airports and townsites. Most active stations have automated monitoring equipment, with some of the data available in real time.
